Have you ever receive an email that told you that you won a lottery or any grand prizes of a lucky draw, but you have never been participating in any lucky draws or buy lottery? Beware, this may be a phising scheme.

To protect yourself againts them, there are several things you need to do.

First, Never ever give your personal information to anyone or any website, even if they claim that they are from your paypal, gmail or what ever.

Create a secondary email account, and use it as a subscriber email account for a new site that you are visiting. This will reduce the risk of being spammed on your main email directly.

Before clicking an link from an email, make sure that u see the link in the status bar and match with anchor. If it doesn’t, don’t click it.

Even if you are on their real website, let’s say Friendster, there are also phising scheme on it. The main characteristic of a phising scheme is that your are asked to log in AGAIN, nah when that happen, you have to be careful. Don’t sign in first.

Make sure that you are on not redirected to other phishing site, and see if the URL is very weird. If you see so, there is some tricks for you, use google. Let’s say that you are doubting if that is phising or not, you can search it on Google using keywords “phising scheme on friendster. Nah, there you can see if other people face the same thing as you do.

Reading is good, you don’t want to be PHISHED rite? :D
